Fate of antibiotic resistance genes in abandoned swine feedlots in China: seasonal variation

Abstract Background Environmental hygiene concerns are needed to be settled before the reuse of abandoned swine feedlot sites. However, few researchers have focused on fate antibiotic resistance genes (ARGs) in soil microbiota around feedlots. In this study, we examined seasonal alterations ARGs and bacterial community composition using quantitative PCR high-throughput sequencing 16S rRNA gene. Results The variation patterns were different for ARG subtypes sampling at genus level generally showed no significant alteration from winter summer. Moreover, co-occurrence network suggested that genera host range was broader summer than winter. Conclusion This study offers further data transfer risk soil, emphasizing necessity continuous concern land-reuse
